Data Exchange & Reports

Comrogen provides admins an intuitive way to perform bulk imports and exports using the Data Exchange system. The Data Exchange system allows importing of: products, product groups, categories, configuration information and other information used by Comrogen via simple to use spreadsheets (.csv format). The Data Exchange also has support for importing media files such as images, documents, and videos; these are uploaded as zip files and are processed by the system as well as resized to match the settings configured in the Media Manager.

The Data Exchange is flexible in that it allows admins to set up import files with the column names and settings they feel comfortable with, a mapping option allows admins to select corresponding system fields so that the correct information may be imported.

The Data Exchange system has a robust export system and allows admins to select information that fits there criteria. Admins have the ability to export based on entity (e.g. products,categories, customer information), product class, as well as based on attribute value. The system includes basic filters to help admins narrow their selection and also has the option to set the export to happen as a scheduled job in situations where there is a large export (this is processed by the Web Services system). Jobs may be scheduled to happen routinely, e.g. an order export to happen every day.

The Data Exchange system also supports plugins and other system expansion options, this includes importing and exporting plugin data, custom attributes, global resources, url redirects, multi-language information, and other information that is outside the core system. As new plugins and extensions are installed, new tabs, columns, and options become available in the Data Exchange, these changes do not require modification to the system source code.
