Comrogen Plugin and Extensions

Comrogen is built on a robust plugins and extensions architecture which allows store owners to expand and add new features onto their store without having to modify the Comrogen system source code. The plugins allow practically any aspect of the website to change, they can add functionality to any part of the front-end or back-end of the system.

Some examples of front-end components include:

  • Google Analytics support
  • Add this support (social media bookmarks)
  • Sales enhancement such as “Customer Also Bought” or “Recently viewed items” suggestions on product, and product group pages.
  • Product Compare: used to provide customers the option of comparing products.
  • Product reviews, including third party services such as eKomi reviews.
  • Ask-a-question, Recommend a Product, Write a Testimonial are examples of customer relationship plugins.
  • Live chat plug-ins including Comrogen built-in chat, or third party chat software such as Tawk.to

Plugins man be installed on all major entities of the Comrogen system which include product, product group, categories, checkout, login, search, home page, and template. Custom plugins can be crated for pages such as a sitemap, or registration form.

The plugins and extension system also is able to modify the administration site and can add new functionality by adding:

  • New menus and tabs in the administration site to manage plugin information.
  • Permissions and access to the administration site based on plugins.
  • New api/web services calls for automation (e.g. download orders to Quickbooks every hour).
  • Include export/import functionality in the data exchange system.
  • Plugins have install and uninstall functionality, this does not require developer assistance (both files & database instruction).
  • Extend the system beyond the website via extensions (in depth plugins) by adding functionality such as exporting products to product Feeds (e.g. Google) and shopping channels (e.g. Amazon or eBay).
  • Can be used to integrate with third party software such as back-office accounting (e.g. Quickbooks, Sage Mas 50/100/200).
  • Add support for third party utilities and enhancements (e.g. reviews by Ekomi, or shipping quotes by Freightquote.com).
  • Can add new order processing rules and fulfilment requirements.

The plugin system ensures that customizations that have been made to your site remain intact when performing Comrogen main system upgrades. Certain plugins may need to be updated to take advantage of new functionality as it becomes available in the core, Comrogen core plugins are updated automatically with each new release of the core system.
