Shipping Management

Comrogen includes support for various shipping providers and methods, these include:

  • Real time rates from carriers such as UPS, FEDEX, DHL, and USPS
  • Fixed rates that may be calculated by weight and destination (shipping code/city/state/country)
  • Fixed rates that may be calculated by cart total
  • Custom shipping logic that can be installed via shipping plugins and providers.
Shipping Methods

The shipping system includes support for various logic from shipping providers, this includes getting estimated delivery time, address verification, adjusting weight and size of the shipment and multi package shipping, support for shipping quotes based on warehouse location (used in cases where orders are coming from multiple warehouses), and generating shipping labels.

Comrogen includes a very flexible shipping system that allows administrators to set up shipping rules based on product class or on an individual basis. Shipping classes allow admins to decide the best shipping options for products; for an example, items that are small and under 50 lbs may be set up to use real time rates (UPS and Fedex) but larger items such as furniture may require freight options or in store only pick up. Shipping classes allow administrators to create as many shipping classes as desired, this ensures at checkout customers will understand how their items shall be delivered.

Shipping Classes

If the store has been configured to use real time rates, Comrogen includes support for generating shipping labels within the order processing system. Examples of providers include USPS, FEDEX, and USPS. Label sizes are compatible with most printers including small factor thermal printers such as Zebra & Dymo. Administrators can edit shipment information such as set the shipment size, and weight before generating the label, they can also specify if the order is being shipped in multiple packages and generate the corresponding labels/tracking numbers.

The shipping system includes support for supplementary shipping charges; these are charges that are added to certain classes of products. Examples of this include: hazmat fees for hazardous items, dry ice for perishable items, extra packing for delicate items. For freight classes, admins may add a lift gate or residential surcharge fee. Supplementary shipping charges are stackable; an order may contain one or more supplementary charges based on the contents of their order.
