Comrogen includes comprehensive site search tools to optimize your SSO. This includes the ability to define underlying search logic and searching engine; you can select from simple search, logic search, or use third party search engines to optimize the results. By using custom search engine mechanics, your site can correct for spelling mistakes, highlight products in search results, or organize results to showcase products you want to focus on. Comrogen includes the Lucene Search indexer by default as well as the basic site search. Examples of search engine plug-ins include Nextopia, Hawk Search, and Google Commerce.
Search results may be displayed in display providers that are built to specification or designed to work with the main website template. Comrogen allows store admins to decide the filtering options and html control types (checkbox, dropdown or textbox), this controls the filters, sorting options, views (list, grid, or custom) and other settings that are used in the search display provider.
The site search system can be setup to keep a record of terms that are searched for and the coresponding results. This information can be tweaked to suit the site’s goals and data mined for further site enhancement. Comrogen includes search term rebuilding and maintaining, this is used for websites with large catalogs where a live search would not be optimal (e.g. over 50,000 skus). In these cases a cached version of search results may be displayed to reduce search loading time and reduce server load. The goal of this strategy is to anticipate about 80-90% of search queries with instant results, while still allowing live searches when no adequate results are available.
As you can imagine with a large search term database, it would need to be maintenanced, re-indexed, and cataloged for maximum performance; Comrogen includes Job Scheduling which can be configured to rebuild these tables on a daily, weekly, or any interval admins specify to ensure the database remains in a healthy state. These tasks can be scheduled during after hours (late night) to minimize impact on the live site.
