New credit card types can be installed and made available for customers to use at checkout, these coupled with new gateways allow for custom credit card processing. Credit card acceptance varies based on gateway and account settings, admins can restrict cards by disabling certain cards (some sites will only accept visa/master card due to business rules).

The cost of processing payment transactions has generally been considered a part of doing business online, however, increasingly business have begun to offer customers payment options which may incur processing charges. This is done when checkout is offered via credit cards or third party payment services such as paypal; a percentage may be added to the order total in order to complete checkout. Admins can select the payment options which will incur fees; some options such as pay by check or regular check, or wire transfer may be configured so that the processing fee is not charged.

Processing fees may be set as a percentage based or fixed based and can be configured per customer level (e.g. wholesale customers may be charged a fee to pay by credit card, but regular consumers would not be charged this fee). Multiple processing fees may be setup per store to handle different types of payment options.

Comrogen supports tax calculation on various aspects that range from the type of product that is being sold to the location where the order is being sent to. Specialty taxes that are based on product attributes (e.g. an e-waste tax on electronic items) may also be setup to ensure tax calculation is in compliance with the store’s local jurisdiction.

For many North American customers a fixed sales tax that combines county and state tax can be easily configured in the tax management administration; this may be further tweaked by selecting the type of products the tax applies to, e.g. news papers and medicines may be exempt from taxes. To handle different product types comrogen includes support for tax classes; here all pertaining rules for taxation may be configured and then this rule can be assigned to selected products.

For EU and other countries, comrogen supports the VAT system that can be configured based on county, city, state (province) or by country level.
